Fairfax Free Book Bus

The Fairfax Free Book Bus is a 503(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Our goal is to provide free books to children in Fairfax County to inspire a life-long love of reading. We want to help children have a home library and encourage reading. With our community partners we work to collect gently used children's book of all genres and plan events with Title 1 schools and other needs-based organizations within Fairfax County to distribute the books.

Since FFBB began in 2022, it has collected and distributed close to 10,000 books to local children though events at these organizations.  

According to the US Department of Education, children who have more books in their homes tend to perform better academically and are more likely to finish high school and pursue higher education.

Having plenty of books at home directly increases children’s literacy. It’s important for children to be able to select the books that they want to read and that they share those books with their family members.
